Whirlpool dishwasher door won't latch properly

My Whirlpool dishwasher door will not latch properly. It worked fine the day before. I checked the metal latch and the door and it just won’t click. It doesn’t appear to have anything in it’s way.
What else should I check to fix this problem?

There should be a spring in the latch.
please locate your model number on the frame after you open the door you will see it.
