Water runs out of drain on my whirlpool washer dryer combo model #4024HW0

Please make sure to click on General above and select the correct appliance type first.

Brand: whirlpool
Model Number: WET4024HW0
Main Symptom: as soon as you attempt to run the washer water runs out of the drain, the drum fills then drains water out of the drain.
What happens & when:

Error Code (if any):none
Parts or tests already tried: none
Photos / video link: none

Per the installation guide for model WET4024HW0, the drain standpipe must be between 39 and 96 inches high, and the washer drain hose should extend no more than 3 inches into the standpipe.

These requirements help prevent a siphoning condition, where water is unintentionally pulled out of the washer during operation. If the standpipe is too low, or if the drain hose is inserted too far into the drain pipe, the washer can continuously drain while it is trying to fill, causing it to lose water and potentially preventing it from reaching the correct water level.

Beyond that, I would need a little more information to make further suggestions:

  • Do you hear the drain pump running?

  • Does the water stop flowing on its own, or do you have to stop the cycle?

  • How is the drain set up? Is the hose connected to a standpipe, laundry tub, or another type of drain arrangement?

With those details, I can help narrow down whether this is a drain installation issue or a problem with the washer itself.

I think I replied to this same message already but will do it again just in case. I followed your recommendation and I think I have it working correctly now. thank you for your help.
