**Model Number:**GI6SDXXY02 Main Symptom: Water dispenser takes about 35 seconds to fill a drinking glass. What happens & when:
I have tried changing filters, using both whirlpool and generic brand (We used to only use generic but tried whirlpool due to the issue). It makes no difference on the flow rate. I disconnected the water line from the inlet valve and it filled the same glass with water in 5 seconds. I think the pressure is fine there. I used a multimeter to check the water inlet valve at the bottom of the back of the fridge. I got 280 ohms. I am not sure if that is good or not. That valve is a single solenoid, not the dual type that goes to ice and water, at least at that place. The fridge makes ice, but we don’t know the rate of that as we don’t really use ice very often. We don’t recall the water being so slow out of the dispenser a few years ago when we moved in. It seems to have gradually gotten worse.
I am wondering what is the most likely cause and what part or further checks I need.
You’re most likely looking at either the filter head/reservoir AP5631141, the dual valve AP6019288, the inlet valve AP6022336, or a blockage in the lines somewhere.
If you’ve already checked water into and out of the inlet valve at the back of the fridge then it isn’t the problem.
Take the top hinge cover off the left hand door, disconnect the water line and put the end coming from the cabinet in something to catch water, then try dispensing water briefly.
If the flow is fine there then you’ve got a blockage in the door.
If you’ve got that same slow flow from the line coming from the cabinet then you’ll need to access the filter head and valve in the fridge section. We’ve got a video on our site that goes over replacing the filter head and one for the valve as well, those should walk you through getting to those parts.
Once you get to those parts you’ll need to tape down the door switches so the dispenser will work. Disconnect the line coming from the filter head to the valve, place the line in something to catch water, and call for water at the dispenser.
If the fill is slow replace the filter head, if the fill is good replace the valve.

I only tested the ohms at the inlet valve. I guess they were fine with a reading of 280?
Assuming it is, the next step you said is to take the hinge cover off the door that the water dispense from. This is to test if there is a clog in dispenser right?
If I unplug the line from the dispenser, I assume water will immediately start flowing out of the line or are you saying that I need to tape down the dispenser?
Ok, at this point, if the water comes out fine, the issue is then at the filter head or a different valve in the fridge (not the water inlet valve right?). Would this be the valve that moves the water to the filter or the ice maker?
I did not quite get the part after ordering the parts. Am I hooking parts up and then testing each one separately to see what the issue is? I ask because I was assuming I would know which of those I would need before ordering parts.
