Washer tub occasionally fills with water after a wash cycle is done

Brand: Sears
Model Number: 417.41142000
Main Symptom: Tub occasionally fills with water
What happens & when: After a wash cycle is completed, the tub will occasionally slowly fill with water. After a couple of days, I can find 2-3 inches of water in the tub. Emptying the water and then running another wash cycle generally resolves the issue for a while. This happens no more than every few months, so it is not a consistent issue.

417.41142000 — Possible causes of an intermittent water issue:

  1. Debris occasionally getting into the valve and preventing it from fully shutting off.

  2. A weak or failing valve ( 134190200 Washer Water Inlet Valve Assembly | Genuine Frigidaire OEM In Stock ) that sometimes does not fully close.

  3. Excessive water pressure making it difficult for the valve to fully close.

One possible test you can try is unplugging the unit after each wash cycle when it is not in use. If the issue persists while the unit is unplugged, I would suspect a water valve issue, as the valve should remain mechanically closed without power.

Hopefully one of these possibilities helps resolve the issue. If not, please feel free to reach out to us again, and we’ll be happy to continue troubleshooting with you.
