A few weeks ago our dishwasher started making a screeching sound during the wash cycle but it stopped after 20 - 30 seconds. Later during the rinse cycle it started making the screeching sound again and didn’t stop. We thought there was something clogged. I checked all the filters and they looked good.
I eventually took the bottom off and looked for more clogs but only found the check value in the drain bad. I put the DW back together but it wasn’t filling. I replaced the water inlet and the DW now fills. When I first started it screeched for a few seconds and then quit.
Then it started its first wash but only the lower arm was rotating. A few minutes later the top arm started rotating. It then drained and started on the 2nd wash but only the lower arm was working again. We have run it a few more times and the top arm works intermittently , and we found if we had some water the top arm works but not all the time.
So it seems a little strange..
Would running the diagnostic test program be useful? I’ve seen a lot of versions of the test but I don’t think I’ve see the version for our unit.
A little more information.
It appears if we open the door and close it 2-3 times the top arm starts working.
We tried this twice on wash cycle an once on the rinse cycle.
On the second rinse cycle, the trick of opening an closing the door didn’t work. So I was wondering if the timer is part of the problem ..
