Since the door was left slightly open, the freezer likely ran continuously trying to recover and may have built up heavy frost around the evaporator coil and fan. Even after closing the door, that ice can block airflow and keep it from cooling.
For your Frigidaire CFFH17F1RW0, I’d start here:
- Listen for the compressor and fan. With the freezer plugged in and thermostat set cold, listen at the lower rear. You should hear/feel the compressor running. Also listen inside for the evaporator fan.
- Check the inside back wall. If you see frost or snow buildup, the evaporator behind that panel may be iced over from the open door.
- If heavily iced, do a full manual defrost. Unplug the freezer, leave the door open, and allow it to completely thaw—usually about 24 hours. Put towels around it because considerably more water may come out. Then restart it.
- After restarting, give it a few hours and check whether the interior is beginning to get noticeably colder. Don’t reload food until it can maintain approximately 0°F.
The water you found yesterday is consistent with frost/ice melting while the door was open and the freezer warmed up.
The quickest diagnostic right now: put your hand on the compressor at the lower rear. If it’s running steadily but the freezer isn’t getting cold, check the evaporator frost pattern/fan next. If the compressor is not running, or it repeatedly clicks on and off, we’re looking in a different direction—thermostat/control, start device, or compressor.
If you can tell me whether the compressor is running and whether you hear the inside fan, I can give you the next test without having you start replacing parts.
