Since burned smell, works 5 secs then stops

I have this old GE top load washer here. I think it’s 20 years old. I looked all over it, can’t find model #.

Yesterday there was burnt smell and it stopped during rinse. Wouldn’t start again. I waited 10-15min, I reset the cycle to rinse, it worked 5 seconds then stopped again. Waiter 10-15mins, did same, worked 5 seconds then stopped.

I opened the back and I see this burned wire and burn marks in the inside of the casing. I don’t see anything else wrong in there but I don’t know much about these. Here are two pictures of the burned stuff. I have more pictures also if anyone wants.

Any idea if this can be fixed? Thanks!

Ok with a bit of google, I found that the part the burned orange wire is connected to is the Relay switch, part # on the piece is 144c7366g03 but I found a page where it says part is now WH12M70 and another page that says it’s now WG04F04806. See attached.

Is it worthwhile to attempt to replace the relay switch and the burned wire?
