Hi everyone. I hope you can help solve this issue. We are stumped. We have a Samsung Fridge, model #RF18HFENBSR, US version. The top cabinet has french doors and it is where we store our milk and eggs. This section is not cooling down, the lowest it will cool is 65 degrees. I isolated the issue to the fan. It will not power on. I placed 2 magnets on the upper edge to trigger the door magnets to power off the interior lights. The fan will not kick on. I carefully removed the decorative evap cover and did see the fan turn on for 2-3 seconds then stops spinning. I connected the small thin red and black leads from my multimeter to the fan connection and readings were all over the place. They were from 0, 4, 5 then 10, then back to zero. I tried a new replacement fan, same results. The evap tubes do work as they frost over and are nice and cold. Plus they also defrost correctly.
The next step was I replaced the temp sensors and that did not fix the fan issue. I then tested the Samsung control board DA92-00420T. C-FAN, F-FAN test fine. One is for the compressor fan which works and spins. The second is for our freeze fan which is the lower cabinet. It is ice cold at - 2 degrees. But R-FAN (refrigerator fan) readings were wonky. I connected the small leads to “R-FAN” and the “Ground” and they were not stable, same as above from zero to 10. Most times at zero. I bought a replacement Samsung control board which yielded same results. Is it possible the replacement board is a dud? Is the connector or wiring to fan bad possibly? I am stumped. Any tips and advice are appreciated. See pictures below. Thanks Mo.
