Samsung is frosting my crispers and the UI display is blank

Please make sure to click on General above and select the correct appliance type first.

Brand: Samsung
Model Number: RF217ACPN/XAA
Main Symptom: APPLIANCES WATER AND ICE AND CRISPERS
What happens & when: For about a month now there is ice and water in the crisper drawers, along with the user interface not showing a display. So I have two issues apparently.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

Yes, it does sound like 2 different issues. The first being the ice and water under the crispers. You will want to remove the rear wall in the freezer and clear out the drain trough. The install a drain clip.

The second issue being the display board. You would want to check to make sure that there is 12 vdc to the display board. If there is but no display then replace the display board.

Hi Team,

I appreciate the response and the tips given. As of right now I was able to bring back to life that UI display board by pressing the power freeze and and power cool button simultaneously for about 15 seconds. This little trick brought back the display to where I can read the values. I then proceeded to clean the back of the refrigerator condenser compartment along with cleaning the two drains. I plugged the fridge back in and noticed the compressor and condenser fan came on. I removed the evaporator cover and noticed that there was still ice down by the drain so, I poured hot water trying to melt it.

During all this time I never saw the evap fan come on. I confirmed that there was power to it using my non voltage meter. I strongly believe the fan went kaput. I did observe the evap getting cold and frosty.

I have ordered a new motor and a defrost temp sensor. What are your thoughts on what I’ve done this far?

Sounds like the best route to go with this.
