Samsung Dryer model DVE55M9600W/A3 displays a vent obstruction

Brand: Samsung
Model Number: DVE55M9600W/A3
Main Symptom: Vent obstruction light blinks
What happens & when: When the dryer is on low heat it does not alert of any issues, but when it is on medium or high it does blink.

Error Code (if any): No codes
Parts or tests already tried: I disconnected the vent and get the same blinking light. I did the machine self-test, and all is good, result displayed 0. The lent catcher is clean.

It is likely the ventilation duct inside of the dryer would need to be inspected and cleared. It is very possible that there is an accumulation of lint inside of the unit that is open just enough to let some air through, but not open enough to allow the higher temperatures to pass through. A partial restriction can allow a dryer to somewhat operate, but can eventually cause further issues down the line if not addressed. If the issue persists after the internal ducts are cleared, there may be an electronic failure with a sensor or a control. Let me know what you find and we can go from there.

Can I place a line gently inside or vacuum the inside of the dryer exhaust port? Thank you!

A vacuum can be used. However, this would not ensure the entire air flow pathway is clear.

It may be the thermistor because I get no alert with fluff air on medium and disconnected Iall get the blinking light. Also some of the clothes come out a little damp despite medium heat for 1 hour. I have also cleaned the moisture detector with alcohol.

If the clothes were warm/hot and damp, this usually indicates an air flow issue if the dryer was running for an hour with a standard load. This could be from lint build-up inside the dryer or lint build-up in the duct outside of the dryer. A good indicator of where the air flow issue would be is to remove the vent from the wall and aim it out of a window if possible. Once that is set up, the dryer can be operated normally. If the vent obstruction pops up again, it would be inside of the dryer (if the vent is not kinked or clogged). If the vent obstruction does not pop up again, the duct running from the wall to the outside of the home would be partially clogged.

I’ve disconnected the vent from the wall and had it straight and open and the alert happens when drying on high. When it is set to timed medium, the alert does not come on.
I’ve checked the blower fan and it had just a little amount of lent that I vacuumed out and the lent filter is always cleaned before each cycle. I’m going to see if I can remove the internal vent inside the dryer and check for obstructions.

If you do not find an obstruction or partial clog in either blower, it is possible that a thermistor is starting to fail or there might be an issue with the main control itself.

To remove the internal vent is it better to go in through the back of the dryer? Thank you!

The main dryer duct would be accessed by going through the front. The top dryer blower section would be accessed by removing the lid, followed by the top cover behind the lid and a cover plate just underneath that. Here are some images to help with the top portion.

Dumb question but if there is lent on the top dryer filter (I didnt know there was) can it trigger the vent light while using the bottom dryer even if the top is not on drying? Thank you for the pics by the way!

While it should not cause this issue, I have seen where an issue in one section unrelated to another section caused a failure that did not point to the original source. Checking the upper section is to eliminate the chance that this might be one of those cases.

I was reading the upper and lower share the same vent. My model has the vent on the top like in the pictures?

From what I am able to tell, yours will have a similar set up as what is in the pictures.
