Roper RGD4440VQ2 - Flame will not turn on for high heat or auto-sense dry

Brand: Roper
Model Number: RGD4440VQ2
Main Symptom: high heat and auto-sense does not turn on flame
**What happens & when:

The original problem was that using the auto-sense setting stopped drying the clothes (flame did not turn on)

I stitched to high heat and that works for 2 months and now the flame doesn’t turn on for that setting either.

Currently the low heat setting turns the flame on and it dry clothes slowly.

Any ideas which part I should order from here to repair this.**

Error Code (if any):
Parts or tests already tried: Flame does turn on for low heat setting, dryer tumbler moves

Based on the information provided the temperature selector switch would be suspect.

Do you have a direct link to this part on your website so I can purchase it:

Model Number: RGD4440VQ2

It is part of the timer on this model.
The part link requested is:
WPW10185971 Dryer Timer | Genuine Whirlpool OEM In Stock

I bought this part from your website and installed it this weekend but still have the same problem.

I retested and here is the problem:

Ran dryer on auto dry settings:
Auto Dry - 1 min flame on then off
Auto Dry - 2 min flame on then off
Auto Dry - 4 min flame on then off
Auto Dry - 6 min flame on then off

Ran dryer on high setting:

High Dry - 1 min flame on then off
High Dry - 2 min flame on then off
High Dry - 4 min flame on then off

Ran dryer on low setting:

Low Dry - 1 min flame on then off
Low Dry - 2 min flame on then off
Low Dry - 4 min flame on then off

Any ideas would be great, it was a bummer to buy a $180 part and it didn’t fix it.

@brad_l_APP_Team would love to get your thoughts on this so I cna order the next part and fix this dryer

Thanks!

Based on the information provided it sounds as if you may have a venting issue…Insufficient air flow. Pull the dryer away from the wall and disconnect the vent, allowing it to vent into the room. Run the dryer and see if the flame stays on better. If the vent is the wrong size, the wrong material, damaged or collapsed you won’t have enough air flow to keep the flame on.
Ensure the dryer vent is 4" in diameter, made of rigid metal vent pipe, has minimal turns and is within the dryer specs for length. (use no vinyl or metal foil vent materials…possible fire hazard).
Air flow is one of the most common issues causing long dry times and for heat short cycling.

so it turns out it was a venting issue. Why didn’t you suggest that first instead of having me buy a $180 part from your website?
