What seems to be the issue with it?

Thanks rory,

My original 8" burner, looks like Pt #W10823702 ( a 6" burner)

My new part for the 8# burner is W10823693; it has 4 prongs; but my old only has 2 prongs. I connected to the 2 prongs on the switch or limiter, or whatever its called. But te new burner still does not light up? So I think i have the two wires coonected to the wrong terminals..

Can you attach some pictures to this thread of how you’ve got it connected and the old burner?

Yes I can Rory, absolutely. Please give me a bit. I have a pic. of how the old burner was wired, and also, make a pic of the new burner.

One of those wires goes to the tab circled below.

The old element should have a marker or designator like 1a or something like that on it next to the terminal, you’ll connect the other wire to the corresponding terminal on the new element.

If you’re having a hard time seeing the marker, get some close-up pictures of the terminals and the switch from the top and the bottom and I might be able to tell you which it is. This is supposed to be the correct element but the manufacturer wasn’t real clear on installing it as a replacement on this setup.

Thank you Rory.

My old burner, the prong on the right side has a 2a and 2b, but the prong is in the middle of those labels.

On the other side, where the prong is welded to another piece, along with the single prong sticking out on the end, those are labeled 1a and 1b.

With the “b’s” being on the outer edge of the block. The “a’s” are on the inner side, closests to the round burner.

Connect that other wire to 2a. That should take care of it.
