Brand: GE Model Number: WBVH5300K1WW Main Symptom: Replaced Control Board WH12X10468; can’t reprogram What happens & when: I replaced the control board because it failed completely recently. For awhile it required me to turn the unit on and off several times before hitting start would turn the unit on. Then the control board got locked and wouldn’t unlock signaling complete failure. I replaced the control board and turned the unit back on but the motor kept running and the three lines - - - didn’t show up to allow me to reprogram the unit. Does that mean the control board was not the problem? Is this something I can troubleshoot myself? The unit is 15 yrs old and I can return the control board and wonder if i should just replace my washing machine at this point. Any help is appreciated. Thank you

If the motor runs constantly and you never get the “—” display to enter programming, that usually means the new board isn’t initializing properly — either it’s the wrong board/revision, it’s not actually compatible without a jumper/selector setting, or the UI board/keypad is the real problem. On a lot of 10–15 year old washers, the console (button panel) fails before the main board, and it can make the machine act “locked.”
Before returning it, double-check the exact part number match (including any suffix), verify all connectors are fully seated, and unplug the unit for 5–10 minutes to fully reset it. If the board truly failed before, it’s possible the console damaged it or vice versa.
Might be a better idea to have the original control board repaired.
