replaced the coils, vacuumed out the dust in the dryer, picked up the loose change and tested for function. I had ignition and heat. Then 12 hours later, I turned it on and have no ignition/heat. What could have gone wrong?

Could you please verify and re post the model number off the dryer production / serial plate. We can’t get any parts or technical information, with the information you supplied.
We can only guess at this point:
Cracked,broken igniter,
Open flame sensor switch on the burner cone,
Open thermostat,
Etc. etc.

We’re still going to be dealing with the basic gas / flame components:
Check the flame sensor for a “closed” circuit with the wires off the terminals,
Check the glow bar igniter for a resistance of 50 to 500 ohms, after you unplug the wire harness from the valve, (check across the wires to the igniter, not from the valve),
Then unplug the two(2) wire harness(white and pink wires) from the gas valve coil, Start the dryer in a heat mode, and check for 120 VAC across the wires in the coil connector. No voltage would indicate and open thermostat, broken or loose wire, or bad heat contact in the timer.
All thermostats and fuses should be a “closed” circuit at room temperature.
*** be careful doing the voltage test at the coil connector, don’t short out or shock yourself. ***

I checked the flame sensor and it was fine. Prior to checking other components, I took out the gas coils, then reinserted them, checking carefully all the connections. The dryer starts, ignites and keeps heat now for the full cycle. Although I’m not sure what I did, I suspect there was a loose connection somewhere. I had vacuumed out the bottom of the dryer at my first gas coil replacement attempt and possibly pushed a connection loose. Thanks for all the good suggestions. Now, on to the outdoor fireworks! Happy 4th.
