Pots & pan light blinks. Will not run

I have turned the power off and then back on. Machine will drain for about 10 seconds, then stop and the pot and pan light blinks. If you hit cancel, both the cancel and the pots and pan light blinks. Door switches test OK. Not sure how to test the electric board.

Bluefoxxx,

There is no test for the control board or touchpad assembly.

You most likely have a bad touchpad / key panel.

There should be a technical data sheet in a plastic envelope attached to the back side of the kick plate panel.

You can attempt to run several test modes, it will also state that a flashing light on the panel indicates a bad touch pad key, or control board.

Good Luck,

Hey Joe:
Is there no schematic or wiring diagram information available to us for
whirlpool products like this dishwasher? Or is this part of that Servicemasters control issue?

Magician,

It’s part of the control issue,

What a mess …

There should be tech sheets diagrams etc.

Unfortunately ApplianceJunk and ApplianceDigest, don’t have that info, or I can’t find it.

I’m doing most of the WP and MTG products from memory, as best I can anyway.

Unfortunately, I haven’t qualified to register as a technician with Whirlpool so that I can benefit from training or membership in **************'s association. I only service appliances as a side line. The biggest reason I contribute (hopefully helpful information) here is to hone my own troubleshooting skills. Vocationally, I am a Master Locksmith; I have been learning appliance repair because it’s cool to see something that doesn’t work, and “walk away” from it in restored condition.

My desire is to get to enough business to eventually qualify to do approved warranty service and enjoy the benefits of some factory training. I DO enjoy reading the responses from guys like ApplianceMan, Gene, yourself, Richhappy, and others who really know what you’re talking about. I’m flattered to be counted among you.

Magician,

You’re doing a great job,

Like you I enjoyed the fact that I could walk in and walk out of a customer’s home and know everything was OK, and in most cases they appreciated the time and effort put into the work.

Factory Training is an expensive endeavor, even for a factory authorized servicer. You may want to contact one of the local servicers and see if he could get you more information as far as training schedules, classes and costs.

It’s not like it used to be, and the manufacturers are getting stingey with thier information.

I’m not sure about your area, but at one time I worked with a local vocational school, that offered appliance repair training,(made presentations and did a few basic operation and theory sessions, as well as training internal staff).

You may want to consider a Basic Electronic course at the local night school, or something like that ???

Like I said, you’re doing a great job, As well as the rest of the Forum guys,

In this field, nobody knows everything, even after 35+years.

Just ask, I’ll be happy to help, so will all of the other guys.

Take it easy,
