Based on your symptoms, I agree that the electronic oven control (EOC/ERC) is the most likely failure, but there are a couple of checks worth making before replacing it.

What the Symptoms Tell Us

  • The oven or broil starts normally.
  • It heats for 1–2 minutes.
  • The display then resets to the hourglass/“just plugged in” screen.
  • It displays F6E0.

Since the control is actually rebooting, this is usually caused by one of three things:

  1. The control board is losing its internal low-voltage power.
  2. The incoming AC power to the control is dropping out.
  3. The control board has an internal failure.

Because you said you’ve already checked the wiring connections and don’t believe the unit is losing power, the control board moves to the top of the list.

Test the Incoming Voltage

Live Power Warning: The following test requires working with live 240-volt power. Extreme care should be taken to avoid electric shock. If you’re uncomfortable performing live voltage tests, do not continue.

With the oven heating:

  • Measure L1 to Neutral at the control board.
    • Should remain approximately 120 VAC.
  • Measure L2 to Neutral.
    • Should remain approximately 120 VAC.
  • Measure L1 to L2.
    • Should remain approximately 240 VAC.

If the voltages stay stable when the display resets, the house power and wiring are not the cause.

Check the UI Ribbon Cable

Unplug the range and:

  • Remove the control panel.
  • Disconnect the ribbon cable between the user interface and the control.
  • Inspect for corrosion, burned contacts, or a partially seated connector.
  • Reconnect it securely.

A poor UI connection can sometimes trigger communication errors, but it typically won’t reboot the entire display.

On Whirlpool/KitchenAid/Maytag ranges, F6E0 generally indicates a communication failure between the user interface and the electronic control board.

If the display completely resets (hourglass/startup screen), that strongly suggests the main control board is restarting, rather than just losing communication.

My Diagnosis

Given:

  • Oven heats briefly.
  • Display completely reboots.
  • F6E0 appears.
  • Wiring appears good.
  • Happens in both Bake and Broil.

I would suspect the electronic control board first.

Before Ordering the Board

One final check is worthwhile:

  • Inspect the control board for any burned spots or cracked solder joints.
  • While the oven is heating, gently wiggle the wire harnesses to the board (without touching exposed live terminals). If the reset can be induced by moving a connector, the problem may be in the harness rather than the board.

Can you provide the complete model number? I think it may be WEG750H0HZ (ending in HZ), but I’d like to verify. Whirlpool has used several different control boards in this series, and the exact model determines which board is correct.
