No water

Dishwasher sometimes fills with water and works just fine..other times no mater where I set the timer it the motor runs but the water does not fill entirely. I checked the water selnoid and it opens as it should.

Just as an added not..the selnoid is an 120volts AC …when I used my voltmeter and turned the timer to the on position..sometime the voltage would read 16-18 volts…is this normal?

Any ideas???

Mick

Just turned the timer to normal wash and the motor ran for 10-15 mins then the water came on…is this normal?

No but it is probably just ghost voltage so i would read it as 0 volts

Possibly no, depends where in the cycle you are re: at this point should the unit be calling for water.

I would check/clean the float assembly and check it’s switch.
Could be it is intermittent and is holding the water valve off.

Also could be a set of dirty/pitted contacts in the timer.
