My washer stopped spinning or agitating. It seems to go throught the timer cycle ok, including a proper drain. I removed the front panel and discovered that one of the leads to the lid switch was not connected. I soldered it back in place, but that did not solve the problem.
Also, while in the spin mode, I do not hear or see anything turning near the motor. The belt looks ok. Is it possible the lid switch is still faulty? If not, what should I check next?

The first thing I would do is replace the lid switch (#388 on the break down diagram).

I checked the lid switch it is still working. Other threads indicate the coupling could be bad. Is there a simple/easy way to check that is the problem? Is it possible the motor is bad? If so, how can I confirm before I order the part.

Oops, just checked the parts break out and there is no coupler for this washer. I guess either the motor is bad, the tranny is gone or there is some other switch I missed. I can access the pins connecting to the motor easily. What voltage/current should I look for in when the tub should be agitating? Which pins/wires should I check?

I have the same problem but my washer is a GE Model: WVSR1060A1WW. I sure do need some advice. Can tis be repaired???
Normally the troubleshooting process starts with the most simplest parts and moves toward more complicated parts, such as, transmissions. Parts like motors and transmissions were designed to last longer than simple parts like a lid switch. With that said, let’s start with the lid switch.
The lid switch on your washer is magnetic and, most likely, that is where the problem is because it interrupts power to the motor.
How did you check the lid switch?

I did a simple continuity test. Disconnected the switch from the machine, ran a small current through the two pins, opened the lid and saw the current stopped.
I also checked the resistance across the motor pins. I don’t recall the exact results, but I got either zero or infinite as a result. Does that help any?

NICK if you have the front off the washer, please check to see if the motor clip is not off the shaft under the clutch . This would cause the problem your having.The motor would be spinning and the clutch not moving.

I assume you mean the clip below the clutch assembly. If so, then I know it is still attached. I tried to remove it last night, couldn’t :mad: . I may need advice for its removal, I could always cut it off with tin snips:rolleyes: .
To make sure the problem is not the lid switch I would recommend to bypass the switch and run the washer.

I see dannag has started a separate thread. Here is the info for my washer. Still looking to check the next thing. I will add that I don’t hear any noises when the washer should be spinning or agitating. As I stated before if we assume the lid switch is working, it appears to me that another switch may have gone bad. Given the model info below, what switch should I test and where should I look. I agree it does not appear that the motor, transmission, or clutch are the problem, but I will defer to your greater experience.

If there is nothing wrong with the lid switch, then check wires from the timer to the motor.
Check the motor windings for continuity. I do not have the wiring diagram for this washer, but it could be inside the control panel.
If the motor tests OK then the problem is a bad timer.

I aremoved the switch from the circuit, washer works. I guess it was the lid switch all along. I’ll order one this weekend and install next week.
