My whirlpool gold model gd5lhgxlt02 ice maker is dripping water into the rear left corner of the ice chest directly underneath the metal ice cube tray causing a large solid block of ice every other day. Do i need to replace the whole ice maker?

If it is leaking from the icemaker mold area, (where the water runs into the icemaker mold) then yes, the seal is bad., replace the icemaker. If it is overflowing the cup where the fill tube is, the fill tub may be too close to the cup and can be pushed back towards the rear of the cabinet.
