Model Number: GFW550SSN4WW
Main Symptom: Appliance repair tech said needed new control board, replaced and still won’t run properly
What happens & when: On any cycle, starts cycle, fills with water, runs for about 3-5 minutes then pops up END on display and does not spin or drain.

We washed multiple loads of laundry before leaving for a trip with no issues. When we returned home a week later, the washer would power on, but would not start a cycle and kept flashing the door lock symbol. I called a repairperson out to check and was told it needed a new control board. They wanted to charge almost the cost of the washer to fix, so I turned to here to do it myself. After installing the control board and programming it with the personality code provided, the washer would start, fill with water, and agitate for about 3-5 minutes and then would pop up END on the display. I would not spin or drain. I was able to drain the water using the drain test, so I know the drain works, when I do the spin test, the drum spins occasionally, not a high speed, for about 4-5 minutes then stops. I chatted with a “tech” on another website and was told the issue could be caused by the wrong personality code being programmed. I installed the wh22x38697 control board, using personality code 2 as provided by the documentation provided. Is there possibly another code that I should be using? Some of the symptoms are now pointing toward the inverter board. Is it possible that both went out at the same time?
When in the spin test does it spin the entire time or keep stopping and starting? And did it lock the door during the spin test?
You’ve got the correct personality code programmed, by the way.
I’m pretty sure it locked the door (did the tests a couple of days ago), but the spinning starts and stops.
That leans me towards the accelerometer board WH03X37841 as a possibility. That’s what measures the tub movement. It sits on top of the outer tub under the top of the washer.
Try running test 26 and keep an eye on the display, that’s the one for reading tub movement. The regular spin test 14 watches it but doesn’t display what it sees.

Tried test 26. It locked the door, turned the pump on, then displayed 0 and timed out. The drum never spun.
Now getting fault code 3. What are the chances that I lose the hall sensor, main control board and accelerometer board, possibly the inverter board all at the same time?
When you run the test 14, does the motor stay on for 5 seconds or 15 seconds+ ?
If 5 or less then the hall effect sensor in the motor WH03X29524 is bad.
If 15 or more then it is either the motor or the inverter board WH22X38837. At that point I’d check each of the motor windings resistance value, which should be about 3.5Ω phase to phase.

Running test 14, the motor spins for 5 seconds, tops. Then stops, sits for maybe 30 seconds or so and spins again for about the same.
The speed sensor built into the motor is bad.
