Hi Glem8888, thank you for your post.

If there are no visible cracks or damage in the water system that could allow water to leak, then the issue is most likely with the water inlet valve itself. If a valve internal pressure regulator fails, it can cause excessive pressure to flow through and create this type of failure.

Here is a link to the valve that would be used with this model number. W10853723 Washer Water Inlet Valve | Genuine Whirlpool OEM In Stock

Hi William,

Thank you for your reply and recommendation.

The first initial flow into the detergent dispenser is where I am having trouble where very forceful flow is causing clean water to splash out of the dispenser onto the floor. Then a little later in the cycle it will release more water into the dispenser, but this time correctly and controlled into the dispenser. So to me, this seems puzzling. It can work correctly in the later instance, but not in the initial phase.

Are separate valves controlling different parts of the cycle. If one valve is controlling the det. dispenser, it seems it would always be good or always bad.

Thank you for your consideration.

Gary

Hi William,

Thinking about it, am I seeing a bad valve on the initial phase and a different good valve in the later phase?

Thanks for your assistance.

When a cycle is started, what temperature selection is used? When water goes through, it starts with going through the hot and/or cold solenoids, then it goes through the detergent diverter solenoid. Usually, the pressure regulation side is at the main solenoid side which would be the hot and cold solenoids.

I use the warm cycle. So if I change the inlet water valve, I should be good?

Try using a cold wash cycle, does it continue to spray out? While I am very certain the valve would be the issue, specifically with the hot side, this can help verify it.
