The replacement went smoothly, but there is aloud chirping noise during the agitation. the other cycles are quiet.

The chirping noise you’re hearing during agitation is most likely coming from the belt. If there was even a small amount of grease or oil on your hands while handling or installing the belt, drive pulley, or motor pulley, it can cause this issue.

Remove the belt and thoroughly clean both pulleys and the belt using isopropyl alcohol or a suitable parts cleaner. Avoid applying more cleaning solution to the belt than absolutely necessary, as excessive exposure could damage it.

Allow all components to dry completely before reinstalling the belt. Once reassembled, test the unit to see if the noise has been eliminated.

Well, it’s definitely the belt making the noise, but cleaning didn’t help, possibly it’s worse.

Did you replace the belt when you did the repair? Did you recalibrate the washer after the repair?

I’ve ordered a new belt. It hadn’t occurred to me that the belt might have suffered collateral damage from the transmission failure. Yes, I did calibrate the machine.

Well, a new belt didn’t fix it, noise is just as bad with the new belt! Any other thoughts?

Did you replace the splutch assembly at the same time?

Did you thoroughly clean all of the pulleys, especially the drive motor pulley and the grooves where the belt rides?

I’ve had some success using belt anti-squeal dressing, which is available at most automotive parts stores. It can sometimes help eliminate belt noise and slipping issues.
