Brand: Maytag Model Number: MVWB850YW0 Main Symptom: Hub drive not flush with tub What happens & when: During re-assembly of washer tub after drive shaft/bearing replacement.
Error Code (if any):
Parts or tests already tried: Reseated the bearings and drive shaft twice to ensure everything is tight with the seal and drive shaft bottomed out on the top bearing. There is approximately - 1/16”-1/8” gap when seating the hub drive between it and the washer tub. Will a washer gasket underneath be adequate or is something else misaligned?

When the bearing kit was installed, was there any debris or burrs on the spin basket? If there is a bur, or if there is debris, it can cause the spin basket to hang up.
Thank you for the reply. There was certainly a decent bit of “gunk” when the bearings were removed, but I made sure to clean it out so I could actually see the bottom again as well as down the shaft allowing the bottom bearing to seat right.
I wasn’t sure of the tolerances when initially putting the parts together but they seem pretty tight. I’m trying to avoid pulling it all apart again for fear of damaging the seal. But, I suppose it if I have, I have to.
If it is seated tightly together and there does not appear to be a misalignment, the basket would just be lifted enough to secure the hub to it. It should be able to operate fine as long as everything lined up good.
