[COLOR=Navy]We have a Maytag MDB7601AWS Quiet 400 Series and it’s been nothing but trouble :mad:
Just over a year old we had to replace the Control Panel and now our latest problem is it’s getting VERY..VERY Hot.
It seems to be hottest on the top part (I think…it’s hard to tell, as obviously the heat rises) but I cannot think of anything that would be there to overheat. I have had to turn it off at the Electric Box, because I was getting a smell of plastic burning and when I opened the door it was EXTREMELY VERY HOT and it does not cool down unless it is switched off at the mains. (I cannot reach the plug as it is built in).
Any ideas what could be wrong with it?
Having already spent around $250.00 repairing the first problem…is it worth getting it repaired again or is it time to take it to the dump? :mad:
It’s only just 2 years old. I won’t buy anything Maytag again.

[COLOR=Black]This does not sound good. It sounds like your heating element may be on all the time which means the control board is shot again.
Opening the door should also cut power to the heating element.

Could be that the vent is not opening during the dry cycle so there is a heat build up in the unit.
Try running a cycle without heated dry.
If the heater does not come on during the dry cycle then I would lean towards the vent being toast.
Try running the diagnostics to see if you can turn the heater on/off and if the vent opens.[/COLOR]
