Based on my research, it seems it is recommended to replace the thrust bearing. I’m hoping for some diagnosis help. What should be happening inside the washer when I manually turn the pulley (belt removed)? When I turn it counterclockwise (when looking up at the bottom of the washer), nothing happens - no drum or agitator movement. When I turn it clockwise, the agitator turns with no drum movement.

Also, when reaching in from the lid, (belt removed) the drum is very difficult to turn manually. Is that normal?

Thank you for any advice!

Clockwise motion, in the way you’ve referenced it, drives the agitator. Counterclockwise is supposed to spin the tub.

And yes, these are difficult to spin by hand from the tub.

I’m attaching the service manual for this style, it should get you headed in the right direction. Section 2 starting on page 2-1 goes over what should be going on when spinning in either direction. Page 9-4 goes over what you should be looking at to figure out the exact cause of the problem. From your description I’d suspect thrust bearing or brake assembly.

Thank you SO much for such a quick reply! I’ll read through the manual and definitely order the parts from APP!
