Maytag LAT8405AAE has new motor wnot turn. Capacitor?

I installed a new motor. I had to go from 2 speed to a one speed and followed a diagram I found online (12002353 to 12002351). Now the motor will agitate but not spin. It will start if I help it start. Is there a capacitor on this model?

Brand:
Model Number: lat8405aae
Main Symptom: will not spin unless i pull the belt
What happens & when:

Error Code (if any): none
Parts or tests already tried: New motor

The Maytag LAT8405AAE does not use a separate external motor start or run capacitor. It uses a reversible drive motor with an internal starting mechanism, so there is no capacitor to replace on this model. The factory parts diagrams for the LAT8405AAE do not list a motor capacitor in the wiring or motor assembly.

Could you send me a copy of that wiring diagram

Thank you for the response. This is the link I used to swap over to the new motor

Are you sure you followed the wiring diagram exactly?

We do offer this jumper connector to make wiring the motor easier ( Whirlpool WP22004373 Jumper Harness | Genuine OEM Part )

The jumper came with the new motor which I purchased from you guys. I think maybe I have the red and brown wires backwards?

ok let me know if that resolves the issue or not

Ok so I traced the wiring and tried swapping the inputs. Motor will now start to spin the tub but shuts off due to what seems to be motor overload. That is why is replaced the motor because is was humming and would not turn but shut off.

I’m at a bit of a loss here

Unfotunately that only leaves 2 options

  1. There is a burnt or stuck contact in your timer
  2. There is an issue with your transmission Either sticking as it goes into spin or the brake isn’t releasing.

Try taking the transmission drive belt off and see if it goes into spin.

Can you send me a short video of what it does when it tried to spin

Thank you for the help on this. I ended up just buying a new one.
