Maytag Electric Dryer Timing Cycle

My Maytag dryer has the following problem…it runs fine except for the following abnormality: after I select the dry temperature setting (regular, delicate, etc.) and the dry cycle (timed dry, automatic, etc.) and press the start button, evrything seems to work fine. The dryer motor turns the tumbling assembly, the heater warms the clothing load, but the cycle selector does NOT count down the time remaining for the machine to work, even though the load may have dried in 30-45 minutes. I think that this may be a faulty timer unit, but I want to verify this before I order this part. Thanks for your kind assistance.

Hi Glen

If the timer is not advancing in any setting, including timed then I think the timer is the problem.

Good luck.

Hi, Sid…
Thank you very much for your reply. I thought that this was the problem, but wanted an expert’s advice before I bought the part. I appreciate your response.

Ok good

I just took a look at that part, and it is expensive. See if there is a “Speed Queen” generic timer available at less cost, or if just the timer motor that can be replaced at a much lower cost.

Good luck, hope that solves it.
