My dishwasher quit draining. I found the silver cylinder with the clip at one end had fallen onto the floor. This cylinder obviously goes into the hole in the drain solenoid and the clip attaches to the plastic ‘arm’ to move it in and out of the solenoid. The problem is when I re-attached it and tried to put it into the hole, it barely reaches the solenoid and falls to the floor. Am I missing a part?

I was just having the same problem on the same model. I suspected that something had broken and was allowing the solenoid plunger to overtravel. I used the exploded diagram from the link that Gene offered to figure out how to remove the spray arm and basin cover. I finally discovered that the lifter arm that opens and closes the drain was cracked and the c-clip on the end of the shaft had fallen off. This was allowing the shaft to overrotate and pull the solenoid plunger out of the coil. I just ordered a new lifter ($3) and hopefully will only be hand washing dishes for a couple more days.
