Brand: Maytag Model Number: MVW722HW0 Main Symptom: A clack, clack noise as the wash plate rotates back and forth. I can hold the drum and turn the wash plate to duplicate the noise. No noise during any other cycles What happens & when: Wash cycle

William, I removed the wash plate and there was no debris. I cleaned the teeth on the wash plate and on the shaft and they both look good. I did some additional troubleshooting and the noise does not occur during the rinse or spin cycles. If I hold the drum and rotate the wash plate with my hand, that also creates the noise.

To make sure I have this correct, the clutch slider kit (as seen in the following link) and the rotor have been replaced. The agitator does not have any damaged splines, and rotating the agitator separately from the tub will cause a clacking sound. Is it a similar rhythm like how a baseball card in a bicycle spoke sounds?

I replyed with: Correct, those are the parts I replaced and that is the rhythm of the noise.
Unfortunately, the email is an automated response saying that a reply has been provided on the forum. It is not one that would email any correspondence to the other person. The only thing I can think of that would be causing this would be if there was something hitting the clutch slider during agitation or if the clutch slider does not move without binding up. This could be something stuck behind it, a bur on the drive shaft, or it could be something in the clutch circuit. When the clutch slider was installed, was the spring placed between it and the rotor, and was the clutch slider able to move freely without any indications of binding?
