Maytag Centennial MCT - MVWC555DW1 - Transmission Question

Brand: Maytag
Model Number: MVWC555DW1
Main Symptom: Won’t spin
What happens & when: The washer quit working last night. The error code is F7E1. When I moved it there was an greasy spot on the floor. Part of the motor, the entire belt and clutch were coated in grease. Research indicates this is normally a bad transmission. I have disassembled and removed the transmission with the assistance of your video. Once removed, and turning by hand, the gears still seem to work. Before I order the replacement transmission, I wanted a second opinion to ensure this is likely a bad transmission.

Error Code (if any): F7E1

The belt and pulley being coated in grease can cause this issue if the belt is slipping and not providing tension. The error F7E1 is a basket speed fault, and if the motor ramps up speed too quickly from the belt slipping, this error will happen. Since this is oil or grease, it would certainly indicate the transmission bearings have a leak. Here is a link to the transmission used with this model.
