When the door is opened during mid cycle, the motor and drum stop turning as is normal, but then when the door is closed again, the motor starts again without pressing the motor push start button which is in the center of the timer dial assembly, as as would normally be required. (as a child safety interlock I suppose).
Also when the drier times out, and the clothes are dry, the tumbling stops as is normal, but the “done” buzzer does not time out, and continues to buzz until the door is opened.
Another source said the problem was in the door interlock, but that does not seem logical to me, I thought it might be in the timer assembly. Is that it? And if so, do I need to replace the whole assembly or just some part of it? Also, am I correct in assuming that the purpose of the motor start button on driers is just a child interlock safety feature, and since there are no children here, can I use the drier, when I put the part on back order, without wrecking the motor?
