I’m dealing with two issues on an LG WM3770HWA front-load washer (stacked with a dryer that’s still working fine):

    • The original pump lasted ~7 years.
    • The replacement pump failed after just 15 months.
    • During first replacement, I verified clear lines and replaced several hoses to avoid clogs.

Question:
Is premature failure common with replacement pumps for this model? Any recommendations for more reliable OEM or aftermarket options before I replace with OEM again?

  1. Control Board – Intermittent Dial Response
    • Occasionally, the cycle selector dial doesn’t register clicks (no beep or mode change).
    • It’s intermittent but becoming more frequent.

I’m considering replacing the control board (EBR78534426, ~$300) while I have the unit pulled for the pump. But:

Is this a known failure point, or more likely a mechanical dial issue? Would you recommend preemptive replacement, or wait until failure?

Regarding the expected life span of a part, there are too many variables to really say how long a part should last. Things like frequency of use, environmental conditions (such as hard water in the case of a drain pump), electrical flickers and surges, among other things can affect how long a part lasts. As far as the dial issue, the potentiometer responsible for sensing when the dial is turned can fail over time and become less “perceptive” to the rotation. The only correction for the issue would be replacing the display control.
