For LG LRFWS2906V/02, if the complaint is no ice AND no water dispensing, troubleshoot the common water supply path first, not the ice maker.

  1. Remove the water filter and test the dispenser. This model has a built-in bypass. If water works with the filter removed → bad/restricted filter or filter not fully seated. LG specifically recommends this test.
  2. Verify house supply: shutoff valve fully open, no kinked line, and adequate pressure (LG specifies roughly 20–120 PSI).
  3. Press the dispenser paddle and listen for the inlet valve.
    • Valve hums but no water → supply restriction, frozen/restricted tubing, filter/head issue, or failed valve.
    • No valve activation → check dispenser switch/door switch, wiring, and voltage to the valve.
  4. If supply into the refrigerator is good, check the water inlet valve assembly and then the filter head/housing.
  5. Once dispenser water is restored, run the ice-maker test cycle and verify it receives water during the fill portion.

Because both functions failed together, I would not replace the ice maker first. The strongest suspects are water supply → filter/filter head → inlet valve. LG’s troubleshooting likewise treats loss of water flow/pressure as a cause of both dispenser and ice-production problems.

If you tell me whether you hear the valve humming when you press the water paddle, I can narrow it down to the next component/test.
