LG Gas dryer drum light always on but unit will not turn on

Main Symptom: Drum Light stays on, and unit will not operate
What happens & when: Drum light stays on any time the dryer is plugged in, and upon pressing the main switch, and afterwards, pressing the start switch, Dryer beeps twice, but does not turn on.

Error Code (if any): No error code, but the unit does flash a momentary “clean filter” message.

Parts or tests already tried: Wife called a repair man while I was out of town. He reportedly cleaned the door switch contacts. Unit ran normally for about two weeks. But he said we need a new main computer, which was puzzling to me, as the unit ran completely normally after he cleaned the switch contacts. So two problems…obviously related. Drum light stays on all of the time, and the unit won’t turn on. Unsure why the “Clean Filter” message momentarily shows upon initial power up. Both issues began at the same time. I already checked and thoroughly cleaned the entire vent assembly. Please help.

Hi Jerry, have you tried replacing the thermal fuse? From what you’re describing, it sounds like the thermal fuse may have gone bad on the dryer.

Thanks for bringing this up, Jose. No, I haven’t done so. Looks like that would require a lot of disassembly to get to, albeit easy once access is gained. Correct me if I’m wrong. I thought I would start with the door switch, since that was the ONLY thing the repair man touched, and it ran normally for a couple weeks thereafter. Figured I’d remove it and ohm it out. Would love some guidance on which poles to test to see if the switch is good or bad. I can’t find any diagram of that issue. TIA.
