LG Fridge Ice chute duct cap never closes fully

Brand:LG
Model Number:GR-L247NSS
**Main Symptom:**Ice chute duct cap never closes fully.
**What happens & when:**I have an LG side by side fridge model GR-L247NSS (15yrs) and moisture gets in and freezes the shute. This is due to the ice shute duct cap not fully closing after dispensing ice. There is also a (6 click) noise that occurs randomly. I am trying to diagnose this and not sure if it is the return lever spring or the solenoid that needs replacing. Any thoughts on what it may be. What is this clicking? And is it the solenoide responsible for not closing the duct cap.

Error Code (if any):NA
Parts or tests already tried:NA

The dispenser funnel will likely have 4 tabs that can be disengaged to separate it from the dispenser housing. This should allow for the ice chute door to be inspected to see if the solenoid is actively engaging the door or if the door is just hanging down without interference from the solenoid. If there is not interference it is very likely that either the spring has weakened or the chute door gasket has warped a little. As far as clicking goes, does it sound like it is coming from the dispenser section specifically?

Hi, thanks for the reply. I disassebled the front panel revealing the ice chute and duct cap. Seems the cap is clipped on to the lever and tabs had broken off at some point. This meant the cap it self was opening in a verticle position and jamming. I have secured it now and seems to be fixed when closing. Doesnt explain the 6 click clicking I hear randomly. Dont think this click is just before the compressor kicks in.

Are you able to identify where on the appliance that the clicking seems to be originating from?
