Leaking oil onto clutch. need to replace gearcase and clutch assembly?

Sheets were still wet. I tried to use the spin cycle, but didn’t spin. Called repairman: It would spin for him, took pictures of the leaking oil onto the clutch. He said it needed a new clutch assembly and new gearcase (print is very small, so I think that is what it says).He told me that I could do small loads but didn’t know for how long.

I watched the video for replacing the clutch assembly and think that is something I can do. I looked at the parts diagram for the gearcase. Do you need to replace all that is pictured in the gearcase diagram or would it be cheaper to just buy a new washing machine?

There shouldn’t actually be anything above the clutch that could leak oil down onto it, that’s more likely to be greasy water getting past the centerpost gasket W10814296.

As for the no spin, if the washer seems to be agitating properly then you are most likely looking at the clutch assembly 285785 and the basket drive assembly W10820043.
