Leaking GE Dishwasher - Solenoid issue?

We have a GE dishwasher with a slow leak that occurs during one of the cycle switches. I believe the leak comes from the solenoid, but I’m not positive. I’ve attached a picture of the part the leak comes from (the part with the springs attached to it). Clearly I am a newbie and appreciate any help you can offer!

I tried taking this piece off yesterday and after removing the screws that attach it to the plastic (drain?) piece behind it I found that it didn’t come off. I am not sure if I just need to pull harder, or if it’s somehow molded to the larger piece and I need to remove the entire component, etc.

Thank you,
Tom

Is that area the only wet area in the dishwasher? Check if there is any dripping water from above that discolored area. I think there is a leak above that area.

Take a look at Section 3.
You also have to remove the C-clip (Item 413) from the shaft.

A common leak point is the seal Item 417. Also get a new push-on nut as you will probably destroy the old one getting it off. Take note which end of both parts goes on first so you install the new one correctly.

Also clean the shaft and the pump housing, Some vinegar soaked into a bit of paper towel and placed there should soften/dissolve the calcium deposits.

Note: If you click on a part’s picture a new page will open with more info and or views and often a Q&A section which can be helpful.

Is my best option to pull the dishwasher out and tip it back in order to get to the parts I need to change, or is it best to leave it “installed” and work in it where it is?

Thanks for the advice!!!

If it is the seal behind the solenoid that is leaking, leave it installed.
