**Brand: KitchenAid
**Model Number:KUCC151JSS0
**Main Symptom: Noise
**What happens & when: For a couple of seconds it squeaks when compressing. It stops after that, and there’s no noise when it lifts the plate.
Based on the video, the noise sounds like it could be caused by a dry spot, a worn power nut, or some rust developing along the top of the power screws. In some cases, the power nut simply needs to be lubricated with grease.
This can be checked by accessing the power nuts, though it does require nearly a full disassembly of the unit. The following video provides a good reference for how to access the power nut:
Thanks - so you think it is the power nut? When you say rust on the power screws, this is under the washers? By dry spot, you mean again on the power nut withoiut lube? I guess for all the above, replacing the power nut is the easiest - so I don’t have to take it apart again?
The power nut is one possibility—it could be something as simple as needing a little bit of grease. The only way to really identify the issue is to disassemble the unit and inspect the moving parts.
It might be beneficial to have replacement power nuts on hand in case they turn out to be worn. If it just needs lubrication, here’s a link to the manufacturer-recommended grease:
Thanks again - but I am a little lost on knowing whether the power nut is worn or not? How would I even know this given I don’t see any moving parts to it?
The moving parts in this case would be the power screw and power nut. Unfortunately, the only way to verify if there is excess wear that would cause the noise would be disassembling the unit.
