KitchenAid top rack not clean. Replaced many choppers. Why does this happen?

Brand:Kitchenais
Model Number:KUDS35FXSS8
Main Symptom:Chopper keeps getting clogged
What happens & when:When the top rack does not get clean, I take apart the filter and chopper. The chopper is always clogged. I’ve replaced 4 and cleaned and re-used probably 5 times over the years. I don’t leave heavy food on the plates but it seems to have happened quite a lot. Could the filter be bad? I see some gunk in there, but can still see through most of the screen and water flows through when rinse it. What is the process the dishwasher goes through, to have food get to the chopper, and why would it not chop correctly?

Error Code (if any):
Parts or tests already tried:Multiple choppers

Hi Montel,

I would pull out the filter and let it soak in hot water to help break down any debris that you can’t see or easily reach. You may also want to remove the drain hose and flush it out with a garden hose.

Sometimes calcium buildup can form around the spray arm rails, inside the manifold, or in the feed tube. I would thoroughly rinse these components and, if possible, let them soak in hot water as well to help dissolve any buildup.
