KitchenAid Refrigerator (KSRG25FKSS15) Door Gasket

Brand: KitchenAid
Model Number: KSRG25FKSS15
Main Symptom: The door wouldn’t stay closed.
What happens & when: when the door is swung closed it would bounce and stay slightly ajar. I purchased a new door gasket and installed it a week ago (May 25), however the magnet around the new gasket doesn’t seem strong enough and the door will still “bounce” and stay slightly open. Before installing, I stretched the gasket out so it would warm up a bit. once installed, it didn’t show signs of any real kinks.
Part I purchased: 2159083

Any ideas?

Hi,

Might help…

Didn’t say if the FZ or FF door.
Might be the door closer is broken or worn holding the door open.

Each door should have an upper and lower door closer…some may be the same as I could only find 1 upper…both doors might use the same one.

A copy:
There are instances where the gasket is too tight on the hinge side, and you may have to shim the door hinges out from the cabinet to keep the gasket from scrubbing when closing. .also use a little petroleum jelly on the gasket on the hinge side will allow the gasket to “settle” better. The hinge side must slide along the cabinet edge while the other 3 sides just close up against the cabinet. The jelly will allow the gasket to rub smoothly and also prevent squeaking noises.

Hope something here helps.

the door closer tracks with everything we’ve been experiencing. I’ll replace those too. Thank you!

I changed out the door cam and it definitely helped keep the door closed. It was quite worn out and crumbled when I removed it.

I’ve noticed the door is still not lined up with the freezer door. Does that mean I need to change the hinge too?

Pics of the old and new cam and the doors.
