Brand: KitchenAid
Model Number: KFID500ESS02
Main Symptom: Induction cooktop on range will not stay on
What happens & when:
When I turn on the induction cooktop and select a burner, burner(s) run for a few seconds (sometimes minutes), then the cooktop goes dead. You can’t press any buttons to select new burner, change the temperature settings, turn the cooktop off, etc. The range will beep every handful of seconds once it becomes inoperative. You have to switch off breaker to reset the range and stop the beeping. Sometimes before the cooktop goes inoperative, when you go to set the temperature of a burner to 7 or 8, it will jump back to 5 without command.
The issue only happens when the cooktop is turned on. After you reset the breaker, and you do not touch the cooktop power button, everything works just fine. The double oven works just fine. When you power on the induction cooktop and the error occurs, both the cooktop and oven become inoperative.
Error Code (if any): “Codes” that pop up when you reset the breaker and the range turns on. SW08.00.00 and E01.06 and EC238. (Not sure if these are even codes)
Parts or tests already tried: Turning the breaker on and off worked about a month ago and you could sometimes get a couple days without any issues, but now it almost immediately stops working when you turn on the cook top. We have been using the range for almost 5 years with little to no issues, we are using the correct pots and pans as we have for 5 years. The cooktop is dry and does not have any water/liquid interfering with the buttons or burners.
I am looking at replacing the control board on the range (Part #W10648866), want to get some opinions before spending $300+.
