Brand: KitchenAid Model Number: KRMF606ESS01 Main Symptom: Freezer not getting above 20 degrees F; ice maker not working
**What happens & when:**I am having difficulty with my KitchenAid Model KRMF606ESS01. The ice maker stopped making ice, the ice cream in the freezer was melting. The refrigerator works normal. The freezer temperture will not go below 20 degrees F. I replaced the ice maker and the freezer thermistor with no results. My research indicates it could be the dual evaporator solenoid valve or the freezer fan. What do you recommend?

As the freezer is able to get to 20 degrees, there is freon flowing through the sealed system on the freezer side. If you access the freezer evaporator, what does the frost pattern look like? If a picture could be provided, it will greatly help with identifying what could be going on.
I pulled the freezer panel this morning and found this. It appears the evaporator is damaged and a component is froze up. We are not the original owners, the refrigerator was here when we purchased our home. How would this kind of damage occur? Is there any reasonable way to fix it?
If the compressor and fans were operating for 30 minutes prior to the picture being taken, that ice pattern would indicate a sealed system failure. Unfortunately, an EPA-certified technician would be necessary to repair it.
They were running until I shut off the power to the refrigerator. Based on the corrosion below the evaporator, I trust your assessment. Looks like a new refrigerator is in our future. Thank you very much for your help!
