Dishwasher “blew Up” My Wife Said. I Looked At Motor, It Did Look Ruined: Discoloration Indicated High Heat. So I Ordered A New Pump/motor Assy And Installed It. Now It’s Done, All Hooked Up, Spinning Freely (not Bound Up Or Anything). Pressing “start” Only Produces Momentary Hum, Then Nothing. Its Filled With Water And The Water Detector Looks Fine. I Suspect The Control Panel Is Needing Replacement. I Need Someone To Corroborate This Notion Before I Spend The $157 More On A New Control Panel. What Do You Think?

Yes replace the control board.
A bad board, could have damaged the motor.

Chip,
There are two thermostats on that unit
A hi limit thermostat and a operating thermostat.
The Hi limit thermostat is located on the bottom of the tub, in a retaining clip.
It controls the voltage from the control board to the heater element in all cycles and should always be closed,
The operating thermostat controls the water temperature, when you use a heated wash cycle it stalls the control from advancing until the water temperature (140 to 145 degrees) is achieved.
It is usually mounted on the pump housing, and sealed with a gasket.
Anything is possible, but at this point, I don’t think you have a thermostat problem, you may want to check them for a proper circuit, hi limit closed, operating thermostat open at room temperature.
I think, we’re back to a control board or damaged wire.
