Kitchen Aid dishwasher does not cancel

We were absent from our home for 2.5 years. On return, we noticed the dishwasher cancel button light blink intermittently and a motor briefly cycle only when the cancel button light is flashing.. This is continuous cycling every three seconds or less. Occasionally, we have seen the child’s lock blink, as well, but it blinks when we push the cancel button or operate the latch. We have cycled it completely through a wash and it functions properly–until the cancel button starts flashing and cycling a motor. The dishwasher has had very minimal use overall. going for a :o!!

Push and hold the Air Dry button for 5 seconds to unlock the control. If it would not help then, most likely, the problem is a stuck one or more key on the key pad. The correction is to replace the console.

Hi Gene, I can’t thank you enough! I tried pluging the washer back in and it started doing the same thing. I depressed the “Energy Saver Dry” button down and held it for at least 5 seconds. It kept up the short intermittent cycling. After several attempts, I unplugged it and plugged it back in. I then held the “Cancel” button down that stopped the cycling temporarily, then pressed and held the “Energy Saver Dry” button down for the 5 seconds. That combination worked!!! It appears that the flashing Cancel button would not allow the dryer button to reset. If this problem comes up again, you might suggest what worked for me.

Again, thank you very much and have a great holiday season. Joe

You are welcome, Joe. I’m glad you were able to fix it. Happy Holidays!

I have the same dishwasher and the child safety button flashes when you hit start. I performed the diagnostics referenced in the owner’s manual which stated holding down the Energy Saver button for 5 seconds. That did not work. I then turned the circuit breaker on and off. Initially, that didn’t work. When I left the circuit off overnight and flipped it back on and hit the start button, the dishwasher came on and ran only the wash cycle and did not run the rinse and dry. I then hit the Start button and the child lock light began blinking again and we were back to square one. I hit the “cancel” button and then that would start flashing. Could you please describe the exact detailed sequence you performed to get out of this “locked sequence”?

Thanks,

Dave B.
