Brand: Kenmore Model Number: 110.82681810 Main Symptom: cold water filling hesitates What happens & when: When I set the temp to cold wash, nothing initially happens. After maybe 2 minutes there will be a rush of warm water, then that stops and no cold water flows. Sometimes letting the machine sit for 15 minutes will “cure” it, but mostly it just won’t continue filling on the “cold” setting. If I move the temp switch to “warm”, water flows immediately. Moving it back to “cold”, the flow stops.
Error Code (if any): none
Parts or tests already tried: I’ve already replaced the water inlet valve

You will want to pull the hose from the cold water side of the valve and check to make sure that there is no clogging in the valve. If there is no clogging then check to make sure that there is 120 Vac to the valve. If there is 120 vac then replace the valve.
Thank you for your response. Would your diagnosis still stand if the washing cycle fills and runs correctly when I start a load with the temp setting for “warm”? I ask because with this setting the machine still cycles cold water in periodically, which makes me think the valve is ok.
I replaced the inlet valve and on the initial fill cycle, the hot/cold mix worked for about 20 seconds, then the cold stopped filling. I let the machine sit and about 3-4 minutes later the filling continued, and the cold cycled on/off as it should.
Any suggestions as to what might be causing that initial hesitation? That’s what led me to make this repair to begin with. Have to note that prior to the new part, the machine would sit for up to 25 minutes before continuing with the cold filling cycle. Your thoughts are appreciated!
This part would be normal. The unit will cycle the hot and cold water based on the thermistor. The unit stopping to switch to which one is needed based on the temperature is normal.
