Kenmore Washer 45972 401 Water loads into drum when unit is off and sets full of water until I run "drain & Spin" cycle which totally empties drum

What happens & when:After I leave the empty washer with door closed, the tub fills with water and stands until I hit the “Drain & Spin” cycle. then all will wash and drain laundry properly.

Your water valve is letting water through, replace the water valve. To prove it, turn the faucets off and see if it fills.

We have been turning off the water valves when not in use, and this keeps the water from getting to the washer at all. I will order the valve and install it. Thanks for your input:)
