Brand: Kenmore Model Number: 110.28802890 Main Symptom: Keeps spinning after cycle What happens & when: At end of cycle interior spins for quite a while - just about a minute. It used to stop within a few seconds. Also, if I open the lid when in spin cycle, the drum still spins for quite a while before stopping. Otherwise, washer appears to work well just doesn’t seem to want to stop spinning…
Error Code (if any): N/A
Parts or tests already tried: Replaced transmission and clutch assembly. Transmission was leaking oil on floor and need to be replaced. Previously replaced motor a few years before.

Hey, thanks but I did replace the clutch assembly. However, the clutch piece I replaced it with came as one part. The spring was already installed in the part I used which also included the housing where the spring goes. I also replaced the cam driver - the white piece. It spins just fine, it just wont stop as quick as it should.
I did have a lot of difficulty getting the old transmission out. I guess 28 years of funk was holding it in…. Also the skid plate or washing machine snubber pad moved during the process which made things very unbalanced when I first put it back together. I took it back apart and got everything sorted out by moving the plate back into alignment with the base and it runs incredibly smoothly now with the exception of the poor stopping.
The basket drive would contain parts for the braking system which is what would stop the drum when the spin finishes. This would be the most likely issue if the clutch has been replaced.
