Kenmore Tub seal installation

Is there any kind of silicone or grease I can apply to the seal? It just will not sit snug so its continuing to leak. I just want to make sure I dont apply something that will eventually break down the gasket before its time.

What is the part number of the door gasket you are trying to install?

How did you do it?

Srry the part is AP2908993 (717000) - Motor gasket.
It was called a tub seal by Sears when I called them first, but they wouldnt give me any help unless it was being repaired by them. I purchased the part on tuesday night an it was delivered on thursday morning. the seal will not sit fully on the bottom of the tub, a little silicone or petroleum product would let it slide snug but not sure what is acceptable without compremising the seal itself. I just located some 820 Silicone lubricant will this work?

Just use a few drops of any liquid dish soap. It works very good.
