Dryer started acting up a couple of days ago. First, it was on unexpectedly when we got up. We thought we must have accidentally hit the wrinkle guard button. But last night it came on in the middle of the night, and wouldn’t stop, no matter what buttons I pressed. I threw the breaker, and came back this morning. I restored power and it displays the PF (power failure) code, and it won’t clear or do anything for that matter. I unplugged it for half an hour, but when I plugged it back in, it just still displays PF and won’t do anything. I figure I need a new control board, but thought I should ask in case there are other considerations.
Thanks,
Steve
Update:
I pulled the control board, dusted it off thoroughly, re-connected all the connectors and made sure they were seated good, and now the dryer shows no error codes, and is running flawlessly :-0
My intention was to pull it and replace it. I was expecting possibly some visible evidence of a failed solder joint or similar, but it looked fine so I tried putting it back and it’s working!
I’d still appreciate any expert advice anyone here might have, especially if I’m missing something. I am a total amateur here. Maybe a lucky amateur, but I don’t want to assume anything.
Thanks,
Steve
I was hoping to get at least one or two replies. Have I posted incorrectly, or in the wrong place? I apologize if I’ve made some sort of newbie error unknowingly.
I would still like to get a sense of whether this dryer is safe to continue using, since it appears that the control board got hinky and now seems fine.
If my questions belong in another forum, I’d appreciate someone pointing me in that direction.
