Burner lights, but stays on “low” fire. Vent is clean, and I replaced the solenoid coils, but no change. What is keeping the burner from going to “high” fire or 2nd stage? Thanks
There isn’t any 2nd stage. The burner is either on or off. You need to make sure the vents are clear. That means checking the lint chute and blower housing. Make sure blower wheel is secure and not slipping on shaft.
Eric
I have not checked the blower housing for lint or blower wheel problem, but I have run the dryer disconnected from the vent. Air flow from the rear of the dryer is very good, so I assume this is not related to an airflow problem.
If the problem is not related to the thermostats, could some dirt/debris be clogging the burner assembly? When I took the dryer apart to replace the solenoid coils the first time, the dryer was very clean on the inside of the cabinet. Thanks
Well, you could have a faulty gas valve. When you say “burner lights, but stays on low fire”, do you actually see the blue gas flame or are you just seeing the glow of the ignitor?
Eric
It is a blue flame, but relatively short. Other dryers I’ve looked at when running have a much longer flame. Could the gas valve oriface be plugged?
